One of the adds on my own page referred me to this new service. (Google must get a good deal on advertising through AdSense...) Anyway, this is an easy tool to use and gives you tons of information about who is visiting your site and where they came from.
You can even use it on your blog to start with, until you are familiar enough with its uses. All you need to do is add an HTML script to your blog and paste in the coding supplied by Google Analytics. You add this to any page that you want traffic info on, and the next day you can view the report. I haven't used all the tools yet, but I it looks like it will allow you to sort by anything your heart desires. There are also goals you can set up for each page to optimize your own advertising.
For example, I set up an add on Craigslist near my hometown to stir up some interest in this site. In 2wks I have gotten 6 people from craigslist and 25 people directly from Blogger who randomly (some algorithm I suppose). Obviously, Craigslist (or at least the placement of the add) is not very effective. So now I can change the placement and monitor for another couple weeks and see the difference.
